Hikone Castle with Mr Taniguchi

Following the visit to the kindergarten, Mr Taniguchi took us by bus to see Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. He then guided us around the grounds of Hikone Castle, where we experienced the tea ceremony in a traditional tea house. We learnt a little about the history of the tea ceremony and how to conduct ourselves when taking part in this ceremony. We are getting better at taking shoes off on entering traditional buildings and also sitting on the floor. Hikone Castle is ranked as No.4 among the original castles of Japan. It is an impressive example of castle architecture and we enjoyed the climb to the top, and the view of the setting sun.
